Sura ya Ndoto Yangu is a flagship initiative focused on women’s economic empowerment, designed and implemented by Nyayo Tanzania with generous support from the Women First International Fund (WFIF). The project is founded on the belief that addressing gender inequalities requires sustainable strategies that promote women’s economic independence and dignity.<\/p>

The initiative operates in the Mwananyamala and Kipunguni Wards of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It equips women entrepreneurs with essential knowledge, skills, and resources needed to develop and sustain their businesses. Through this program, women receive training in entrepreneurship and business management, financial literacy, product branding, customer service, and digital marketing, including e-commerce. These interventions help women enhance their competitiveness, access broader markets, and improve their financial decision-making.<\/p>

To address the challenge of limited access to capital, the project has introduced a microloan scheme that enables women entrepreneurs, organized into groups, to access loans under favorable terms for business expansion. Additionally, Nyayo Tanzania assists beneficiaries in connecting with government loans available at the district level, where 10 percent of local government revenue is allocated to women, youth, and persons with disabilities. This dual approach to financing ensures that women entrepreneurs have both immediate and long-term opportunities for capital support.<\/p>

Sustainable practices and accountability are core components of the project\u2019s framework. Regular monitoring and follow-up sessions are conducted to track progress, measure impact, and provide ongoing mentorship. This process allows Nyayo Tanzania to evaluate business growth, identify challenges, and support beneficiaries in devising practical solutions that enhance resilience and consistency in their enterprises.<\/p>

Building on the successes in Dar es Salaam, Nyayo Tanzania has expanded the Sura ya Ndoto Yangu Project to the Serengeti District in the Mara Region, where women entrepreneurs continue to face similar socio-economic challenges.
